The Band Perry Blue Gate Performing Arts Center Concert reviews
it was meh at best
I've been a fan of The Band Perry since 1982, and seeing them has been a long-awaited experience for me. Imagine my disappointment when, after finally getting to see them, the first 30 minutes of the show consisted of a projection screen curating a collection of black & white movies from the 50s & 60s, accompanied by a pre-recorded narration. Yes, that actually happened.
During the performance, when the band was playing, understanding the lead singer's words was nearly impossible due to the overpowering volume of the guitars. It felt like the guitars drowned out his voice completely, making it difficult to hear or comprehend him. I paid $150 per seat to listen to The Band Perry, not just the guitars!
It's understandable that as the lead singer gets older, his voice may not be as strong, and utilizing industry tricks to compensate is common. However, the execution in this case made it almost impossible to hear him sing clearly. The few moments when he performed solo were enjoyable, but they were a small fraction of the overall show.
In my opinion, the show was a waste of both time and money. I left feeling very disappointed. I would rate it with two frowny faces: :( :(
